about

a transdisciplinary artist, christian.ryan works in the emerging areas of sculptural new media, installation, physical computing, soft circuitry, video, electronic music, and performance.  the artwork  invites viewers to playfully re-imagine the body’s sensory and social relationships; christian constructs hybrid spaces that offer viewers + participants a kind of radical play and subversive pleasure. presently, christian.ryan’s studio practice centers around researching ways to connect emerging art-making with new technology like 3D printing, computerized fabrication, and soft/squishy circuitry as ways of creating reactive and animatronic sculptural forms + transmedia installations.  an additional goal is to find ways of streamlining the process so that artists and students can better access and utilize the emerging technology.  a more detailed artist statement here…
